FAQs

Some common questions about therapy and our practice...

What are your hours?

Generally speaking, we are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 8pm, Saturdays from 8am to 4pm, and Sundays from 8am to 4pm. Hours are by appointment only. When scheduling your intake please note your day/time preference and we will do our best to accommodate that request.

Appointments between the hours of 3pm and 7pm fill up very quickly. If you have flexibility in your schedule and can accomodate appointments before 3pm, there is a greater chance your appointment request will be filled more quickly. Some school districts have unique scheduling with weekly half days or early release options. We recommend taking these factors into consideration.

How frequently do I need to schedule sessions?

This is determined on a case by case scenario that takes into consideration the client's symptoms, severity of distress, and ability to commit to consistent treatment. Usually, it is recommended that therapy sessions occur on a consistent, weekly basis, and that over time frequency is adjusted as progress in treatment is made.

Do I need to attend the Intake for my child or teen?

All minors need to have a legal parent/guardian attend the first Intake session in order to ensure that all necessary paperwork is signed.

Can I drop my child or teen off for their appointment?

We encourage parents to remain in the lobby or nearby during the course of the session.

Can I switch from in-person to virtual, and vice versa?

Many of our counselors have hybrid schedules which means that they have both in-person and virtual hours. It is sometimes possible to switch from one type of treatment platform to another. Please speak with your counselor if you would like to do this. Please note that all of our Virtual Mental Health counselors and Telehealth Addiction Services counselors are virtual only.

Do you prescribe medication?

No, we do not have any practitioners who are able to prescribe medication at CSGB. If you require pharmacological interventions in addition to outpatient therapy we highly recommend that you contact your insurance company for referrals within your network.

Do you accept MassHealth or Medicare?

Unfortunately, we do not accept MassHealth. We do accept some MassConnector plans as long as they are employer plans and one of the carriers listed below. Unfortunately, we do not accept Medicare. We are able to use a secondary commercial insurance, but copayment can not be billed to Medicare for reimbursement.

Which insurance plans do you accept?

We accept Aetna, Mass General Brigham Health Plan (formerly AllWays), Evernorth (formerly Cigna), Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts (commercial plans only), United Healthcare, and United Behavioral Health. We recommend that you contact the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and verify that we are listed as "in network" for your specific plan. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits we may be able to use your plan even if we are not considered in network. If you have further questions about this please contact us to discuss insurance and payment options.

Can I use my EAP benefits?

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a benefit offered by some employers to provide free, convenient access to mental health services for their employees. We accept EAP's, however, these benefits can not be used retroactively. To use your EAP benefits, please provide your counselor with all requested information as listed in the CSBG Insurance Form. Please email billing@csgboston.com if you have specific questions regarding this benefit.

What if I want to switch to a different counselor?

Our group practice consists of many experienced and dedicated counselors. We do our best to match you with a counselor who is experienced in the areas of your diagnostic needs. We take into consideration your listed preferences and availability. However, sometimes things just don't click. If you feel like you would like to transfer to a different counselor, please let your counselor know how you feel. We totally get it and won't take it personally. Your current counselor and the Intake Team will help you transfer to a different counselor, pending availability.
