CSGB: Recipients of the 2016 MLK Service Award

csgb2016Please join me in congratulating Counseling Services of Greater Boston; they are the 2016 recipients of the Wakefield, MA MLK Service Award!  Each year, the Wakefield Human Rights Commission selects one business, nonprofit or community group that they believe contributes to the community positively.

Out of the Darkness Walk

On Saturday, September 24th, Counseling Services will be participating in Wakefield’s “Out of the Darkness” walk, for the second year in a row.  Out of the Darkness walks happen around the country, and raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention.  When you donate money or time to this organization you are providing for increased research and education about suicide, and for increased support for those affected by suicide loss.  There is still time to get involved!  Please visit the organization’s website here to join us.

Calm down!

We’ve all been there.  We’ve been worked up, and said something we didn’t want to say or made a poor decision.  Well, did you know it’s partially because your brain is getting less oxygen at that moment?  Check out this informative video that provides us with both an explanation of the brain’s processes, and practical skills that will help us to calm down.
