Sara Thibodeau, LMHC, CIMHP

Licensed Mental Health Counselor | Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and have ten years experience working in the mental health field. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counseling from Salem State University. I am also a certified integrative mental health professional (CIMHP). As a certified integrative mental health professional I offer a more holistic lens and will work with you on understanding how your lifestyle choices may influence your mental health and overall well-being. I firmly believe in treating the whole person- who you are on a spiritual, emotional, mental and physical level.

Throughout our lives we are constantly evolving and as much as we are learning we also are unlearning patterns that no longer serve us. I provide a warm and genuine space for my clients to process and reflect upon their present and past experiences; to foster growth and understanding, while making valuable connections to the world around them. I will meet you where you are and work alongside you and support you in navigating these transitions.

I have experience in treating older children, adolescents and adults but I specialize in working with individuals in emerging adulthood facing challenges with identity, codependency, relationships and attachment styles. I have experience in treating anxiety, depression, OCD, phobias and trauma and stressor-related disorders.

I aim to utilize tailored methods strongly anchored in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) modalities as they have complementary roles in how individuals deal with distressing live events. CBT aims to identify, replace and challenge negative thought patterns while ACT increases cognitive flexibility by expanding our acceptance for uncomfortable feelings. I also utilize aspects of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness regularly.
