Licensed Mental Health Counselor | Art Therapist | Creative Coordinator of Elder Services

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Art Therapist with over five years of experience. My work as a clinician is based on providing counseling psychotherapy and expressive therapies services to adults in outpatient treatment facilities and the elderly in assisted living communities. I believe in the incorporation and implementation of the creative arts as a form of self-exploration, healing and growth for those I work with.

I aim to provide clients with a safe and supportive space to explore various aspects of their lives and find meaning in their current circumstances. Having a therapeutic relationship based on trust and support is foundational in my work. As a counselor, I imagine myself walking alongside those I work with on their path. Everyone’s path is different and it is my goal to meet client’s where they currently are, and help guide them to where they want to go on their journey of wellness.

Alongside expressive therapies, part of my role as a counselor is to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions and how those impact their behaviors. Therefore, a lot of my approach involves CBT, as well as practicing mindfulness and grounding techniques found in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

I am the Lead Clinician and Creative Coordinator of the Elder Outreach Services Program at CSGB. This program is dedicated to bringing expressive therapy-based groups and art history lectures to elderly adults living in Assisted Living Facilities. I believe in the power of creativity and its ability to help older adults find meaning as well as joy in their lives. Being able to make expressive therapies accessible to people that may not otherwise be exposed to it is very important in my work. I take a Habilitation approach when working with adults with Dementia; focusing on what they are capable of and what helps them feel successful. Giving older adults a reason to smile and helping to create a positive moment in their days is the goal of the Elder Outreach Services Program.

I work primarily with adults and elderly adults. I specialize in working with adults with Anxiety and Mood Disorders as well as Substance Use Disorders. My work also primarily focuses on working with elderly adults with a wide range of cognitive capabilities.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Registered Art Therapist. My MA is in Mental Health Counseling and Expressive Therapies with a specialization in Art Therapy. My BA is in Art Therapy.
