Play and Expressive Therapy
I am a licensed mental health therapist and enjoy working with children, teenagers, and adults. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief and loss, trauma, self-esteem issues, life transitions, sexuality and identity exploration, as well as relationship and family concerns.
I am passionate about creating a therapeutic environment that feels safe, collaborative, empowering, and fun. Furthermore, I believe that therapy can help clients discover their inner strengths, better understand themselves, and develop new ways to navigate challenges.
As an integrative therapist, I am influenced by many approaches. I most utilize play therapy, expressive therapy, person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, and strengths-based approaches into my work. Play and expressive therapy can be especially helpful for children and teens by providing different ways to communicate, explore emotions, and build skills. As such, I draw from these approaches based on each client's age, interests, and comfort level.
I believe in the inherent dignity and worth of every person. I strive to create an inclusive space where clients feel respected and supported. Moreover, I recognize my responsibility as a therapist, ally, and advocate in the lives of my clients.
Before becoming a therapist, I earned my B.S.Ed. in Recreational Management and Leisure Studies from the University of Georgia in 2014. This background has given me a unique perspective on the role of play, creativity, leisure, and recreation in emotional well-being and therapeutic work.
In 2021, I earned my M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College. Since then, I have been working as a therapist and living in the Boston area with my Labrador, Archie.
